Zero Waste Spring Clean Festival

Sunday 25th February

The Art and Business Campus Drumcondra, 40 Lower Drumcondra Road, Dublin 9

Thank you so much to Zero Waste Festival Ireland for including us in your wonderful event!

What a beautiful day we had sharing our story and giving away free fabric. There were so many wonderful people to talk to about sharing, and we had so much interest and new members joining us. There aren't many better ways to spend a sunny Sunday in February. We got to meet loads of beautiful people working on brilliant projects around Dublin and Ireland. It was a pleasure to be among you all!

WeShare at Global Green at Electric Picnic

Friday 1st - Sunday 3rd September

Stradbally, Laoise

We had a fantastic weekend as part of Global Green at Electric Picnic. This fantastic pop-up community featured some amazing changemakers from around Ireland - all working on exciting challenges through collaboration and innovation.

A lot of planning, sourcing and hard graft from loads of our sharers went into the WeShare stand. Generous gifts of apples (real and paper maché), time and pallets, and thoughtful loans of a table and bunting all contributed to a wonderful area where we spoke to festival-goers and fellow Global Greeners alike.

Eoghan, Catherine and Dee spent 3 days alternately getting sunburnt, drenched and ever so slightly slighty muddy - contributing their time and energy to sharing the word about WeShare. There were some confused looks and raised eyebrows from punters with no experience of the sharing economy, but these were quickly turned into smiles and nods of appreciation once the idea of WeShare was introduced and understood. After all, who can not like the idea of sharing what you have with the people who need it!

We shared a space with ReCreate, and worked together with them and many other organisations to make Global Green a truly inspirational and fun area of Electric Picnic.

We would like to thank Cultivate for inviting us to take part in this amazing festival and we're looking forward to next year already!

A Share A Day

Sunday 4th June - Sunday 11th June

Wherever you were!

Global Sharing Week was on from the 4th to the 11th of June and we joined in with A Share A Day. We pledged to share 1 thing each day for the whole week, and asked our sharers to do the same.

And what a great week it was. Sharing soared on our website, with everything from guitars to football boots, from lifts to maths lessons being offered and asked for. A big thank you to everyone who took part!

Of course it doesn't have to be Global Sharing Week to share, so get the stuff from the attic, the knowledge in your head and get sharing!

Earth Day Birthday

Saturday 22nd April @ 11AM

St. Stephens Green

The weather was lovely(ish)! It was warm, it didn't rain and there definitely wasn't a hurricane or snowstorm, which always helps. St. Stephens Green was unusually quiet for a Saturady morning and the calm morning proved a lovely backdrop for our picnic.

Thanks to everyone who came, it was a great way to spend Earth Day - sitting on the Earth. We had a kick around, a little dance in the bandstand (those of us under 2 did anyway) and got to try some lovely food we all brought.

Christmas Potluck Party

Wednesday 14th December @ 7PM

The Dublin Food Co-op, Newmarket, Dublin 8

We celebrated Christmas by sharing a meal! We had a potluck party and brought along our favourite dishes to share with everyone. And we got to taste fabulous food made by others. We used what we grew ourselves and rescued food that would otherwise have gone to waste. We also had a few drinks!

Dublin Community Growers Harvest Festival

Saturday 3rd September, 12 - 5PM

Mountjoy Square, Dublin 1

We took part in the Dublin Community Growers Harvest Festival. It was a free event, with lots of family fun! The weather conspired against us and we were absolutely drenched, but we got to meet loads of wonderful gardeners and interesting people, including Barry and Fernanda who had randomly wandered over, braving the driving rain. Eoghan, with all his growing expertise (cough), was roped into judging the harvest basket competition. The Dublin Community Growers were very welcoming and we had a great day!

WeShare on 2FM

We wereinvited to the Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene

Out of the blue in the summer of 2016 we got a call from Zbiszek - a producer from the Nicky Byrne show asking if we would like to appear on the radio. Of course we had to say yes! It's not every day you're invited to talk to the nation. Zbiszek, Nicky and Jenny were all so friendly and we had great craic talking to them. You can listen to the podcast below.

Launch Party

A Wonderful Evening at the Mansion House

Thank you so much to everyone who came to help us celebrate the Launch of our new website!

It was such a fantastic evening and could not have been possible without all the help from so many people form all over Dublin. We had a lot fun. The food everyone brought to share was absolutely amazing - we heard from so many people just how delicious it was. Potlucks are definitely the way forward.

The gang with the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Christy Burke

The gang with the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Christy Burke

We had three gift circles on the night, a first for Dublin. It was pretty surreal having three big gift circles going on at once in the same place - and in the Mansion House of all places. It was a proud moment for us to be able to share our idea with our guests in such wonderful surroundings. There were so many asks and offers - and loads of connections as well. There should be a lot of sharing going on over the next few weeks.

"WeShare are a fantastic group of people who's positive outlook on life and enthusiasm for the gift economy are an inspiration to us all." - Christy Burke

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Christy Burke was kind enough to offer us the use of the Mansion House for the night. He said many kind and supportive words about what we are doing in a very supportive and encouraging speech.
